Château de Bussy-Rabutin
As part of the Voltaire Photography Prize’s travelling exhibition, the Chateau de Bussy-Rabutin is showing three self-portraits from the Self-Reflections series.
The chateau was the home of author and renowned libertine Roger de Rabutin, Comte de Bussy (1618–1693), who fell into disgrace for allegedly taking part in an orgy during Holy Week, and was exiled from court after exposing the love affairs of his famous contemporaries in his Histoire Amoureuse des Gaules. He decorated his castle with a remarkable collection of portraits, accompanied by comments, representing a vast caustic fresco of the history of France.
The photographs stand at the Sarcus wing of the monument.
« Self-Reflections (with The Villain, The Prince, The Joker and The Boy) », Self-portrait.
« Pupil And Master (with The Boy) », Self-portrait.
« Vanitas (with The Prince) », Self-portrait.
